Highly successful entrepreneur Hersh Sandhoo details his experiences in his blog, Becoming Legendary. In a recent post, Sandhoo discusses the importance of delegating tasks, rather than trying to do everything yourself. "While I am a firm believer that every business owner must take a personal role in the marketing, sales and systemization of their business, they should not be spending time doing the grunt work. Not only does your to-do list pile up to unreasonable levels, it stifles creativity and takes your focus away from more important parts of your business and personal life," says Hersh Sandhoo.

Hersh Sandhoo suggests delegating these tasks if you’re an involved business owner:

• Accounting: Hersh says to make sure you review your account activity daily but you don’t need to be the one doing the number crunching. He suggests hiring a bookkeeper and accountant.

• Legal: Legal issues are time consuming and can cause you to become quickly mentally drained. "I’ve learned to just forward any legal issue straight to my legal team," says Hersh Sandhoo.

• Customer support: Hersh says to have big problems forwarded to you, but for matters under $500, have your employees and/or call center handle everything.

• Sales: Hersh Sandhoo says to only hire straight commission salespeople. He says this is the only way he brings on someone to the sales staff, however he encourages training everyone on staff in order to optimize the sales process.

• Service: Have staff, free lancers, vendors, etc answer e-mails and phone calls about basic questions.

• Fulfillment: Hersh Sandhoo says there is no reason for companies to get their own warehouse and fulfill products. He suggests investing in fulfillment houses which store inventory, ship out products, provide tracking information and handle returns, all for a low cost.

• Any other grunt work: web designers, HTML e-mail campaigns, social media setup, data mining, basic research, technical areas or anything else you are not practically well versed in should be outsourced says Hersh.

Business leaders should concentrate on product development, optimizing processes and overseeing the sales and marketing of their company. Additionally, business owners should be spot checking all other areas of the business. "The more you systemize a business the less you have to be involved on a daily basis. I only spend 30 minutes a week on one of my companies that is currently bringing in the most amount of income and will scale to $50MM in the next few years," says Hersh Sandhoo.
